PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD This unit standard applies to persons who will through the application of knowledge of the relevant legislation, carry, handle, shoot and maintain a rifle or carbine for business purposes.

A person credited with this unit standard will be able to:

Demonstrate knowledge of safe handling principles in a business environment.
Operate a self-loading rifle or carbine in a business environment.
Demonstrate knowledge of the mechanical functioning of the self-loading rifle or carbine.
Demonstrate knowledge of self-loading rifle or carbine under adverse conditions.

Communication at NQF level 02.
It is further assumed that the following unit standards relating to the rifle or carbine have been completed before attempting this unit standard: 117705 and 119650. (If these unit standards have not been completed, they must be completed before continuing with this unit standard.)
